Fujimoto Miki started out as a solo artist in Hello! Project. In that role she was sometimes seen by fans as Matsuura Aya's rival, since their songs were similar in topic and style. She then underwent training until her solo debut in 2002, later joining Morning Musume in 2003 as 6th generation and in 2005 becoming sub-leader of that group.
